Northampton Town FC Charity Partner

Breast Friends Northamptonshire were honoured to be chosen as a charity partner for Northampton Town FC for the 2019/20 season and we’d like to thank the club once again as due to the interruptions in the season that was beyond their control they have decided to keep all charity partners in place for the 2020/21 season.

As part of their commitment to their charity partners, we were recently awarded £650 as part of the club’s share of the match proceeds from the FA Community Shield match.

On hearing the news of the donation, Leonie Heard founder of BFN said “With the normal sponsorship routes virtually written off by the knock-on effects of the coronavirus, this donation is very welcomed by the charity and we will be putting it to good use straight away. It will be used to fund 26 of our new lymphoedema bags that will be supplied to our members who have been affected following their breast cancer treatment”.

Lymphoedema is commonly caused by the removal of your lymph nodes as a part of cancer treatment. It results from a blockage in your lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. The blockage prevents lymph fluid from draining well, and the fluid buildup leads to swelling.

Our bags will include items recommended by the Lymphoedema Support Network such as exercise balls, body massagers, moisturising cream as well as alert cards and wristbands, each bag costs roughly £25 to produce.
