Lisa Barnes-Tee

I’m Lisa Barnes-Tee I was diagnosed in October 2018 at the age of 46 with TNBC Stage 2 and had a genetic test done too. Cancer has meant that I’ve physically had my body image change and I’m trying very hard to get used to a new body image and a new me. I’ve found it very emotional at times but hopefully, as time goes on I will get to like myself again.

I had 6 cycles of Chemotherapy first then I had my operation which was a double mastectomy, full lymph node clearance and also my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. This was because my genetic test came back that I have the BRCA1 gene which meant I had to have those removed too. I then had to have 15 rounds of Radiotherapy and because of having the type of cancer and the BRCA1 gene meant I wasn’t able to have HRT.

I find things a struggle some days, going straight into surgical menopause has been hard as there’s nothing they can give me for my symptoms of menopause.

Please keep checking yourselves. X

Lisa Barnes-Tee
