Tracy Willsher

I’m Tracy, I was diagnosed in March 2010 with Grade 3 invasive breast cancer. Cancer has meant that I no longer take anything or anyone for granted.

When I was 38 when diagnosed with ER, HER 2 grade 3 breast cancer in March 2010. I had one large tumour and several smaller ones and learned that it had also spread to my lymph nodes under my arm.

I had a full mastectomy, lymph node clearance, six sessions of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a year of Herceptin, and then finally had a prophylactic mastectomy on the other side with a double reconstruction with implants. I also had genetic testing as my family history was significant.

Quite a journey with two small children aged 6 and 3 at the time, but with my supportive husband and family at my side, we made it. Thankfully over 10 years on, life is good.

I will probably never fully trust my own body again, but it has made me appreciate the little things in life and I have also met the most amazing women on a similar journey who will be friends for life.
